Early Morning Songfest
Each morning will start with group singing which will challenge our ears and warm our hearts.

Noontime
Recitals of piano duets, piano duos, and multiple piano ensembles will offer artistic examples of the conference theme "Making Music Together."

Ena Bronstein Barton and Phyllis Alpert Lehrer

Ena Bronstein Barton is an active performer who heads the Piano Department at Westminster Conservatory and is on the faculty of the Westminster Choir College of Rider University (NJ). Ms. Barton is a disciple of Claudio Arrau and a graduate of the University of Chile.
Phyllis Alpert Lehrer directs the graduate program in piano pedagogy at Westminster Choir College of Rider University where she is Professor of Piano. She is known internationally as a performer, clinician and author. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester and the Juilliard School of Music.

Oakton Six Piano Ensemble

The Oakton Six Piano Ensemble is comprised of college students from Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL, and directed by Glenna Sprague, coordinator of the music department. The ensemble tours throughout the United States and has appeared at the MTNA national convention and at the International Conference of the College Music Society in Vienna.

Angela Cheng, Alan Chow, and Alvin Chow
This rare collaboration of Alvin and Alan Chow and Angela Chang is offered in tribute to friend, mentor, and former teacher, Nelita True.

Angela Cheng has been soloist with the symphonies of Montreal, Toronto, St. Louis, and Houston. She won a Gold Medal at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition, and First Prize at the Montreal International Piano Competition. She has studied with Menahem Pressler at Indiana University, and is currently on the artist faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Alan Chow, the winner of several international competitions, has performed in more than forty states and throughout Asia. On the faculty at Northwestern University, he has studied with Nelita True, Sascha Gorodnitzki, and Menahem Pressler.
Alvin Chow has been soloist with the National Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Pan-Asia Symphony in Hong Kong, and the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg. He has studied with Nelita True, Sascha Gorodnitzki, and Menahem Pressler, and is currently on the artist faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

MTNA Piano Performance Competitions:

Boris Berman, Conference Artist

Born in Moscow, Boris Berman studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with the distinguished pianist Lev Oborin and graduated with distinction as both pianist and harpsichordist. He is currently Chairman of the Piano Department at the Yale University School of Music. In 2004-2005, Mr. Berman appears with orchestras, as well as in festivals and recitals, in the USA, Japan, Korea, India, Thailand, China, Israel, Italy, and Holland.

Mini-Recitals Each Afternoon
Each afternoon session begins with a mini-recital by pre-college students from the Harper College Piano Preparatory Department, the Wheaton College Community School of the Arts, and the Preparatory and Community Piano Program of Concordia University/River Forest. Performances include repertoire from elementary through early-advanced levels, and highlight the results of extraordinary teaching.
