CALL FOR POSTERS EXTENDED TO MAY 20, 2005
The Research Committee of the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy invites submissions of research reports for presentation at the NCKP Conference in Oak Brook, Illinois on August 4-6, 2005.
Results of Conducted Research
The committee seeks reports on the results of interesting, professional research in all aspects of keyboard pedagogy, music teaching, music learning and related subjects.
An Additional Invitation: “Well, what do you know about that?”
The committee also seeks reviews of empirical literature related to music and music learning. Reviews should include descriptions of findings from a substantial number of original sources found in research literature. Reviews should pertain to topics like piano and physical practice, piano and mental practice, and music performance anxiety.
For example, author(s) can present a topic such as "performance anxiety." Rather than collect articles for strategies suggested by pedagogues, authors will collect empirical articles that have studied anxiety-coping technique in subject populations and have measured effectiveness in some systematic way. Posters should include a summary of findings on the selected topic.
To submit a presentation proposal: Prepare an abstract of no more than 750 words that provides a concise, yet thorough, summary of the research project or review of literature. Authors submitting reviews must include a bibliography in addition to the 750-word abstract. Authors whose abstracts are selected will present their research or review of literature in an informal session where Conference participants can learn about current research and discuss applications to music teaching with individual authors and reviewers.
